Description

Copenhagen Consensus Center is an international think tank. We commission economic research from the world's top economists on the costs and benefits of pursuing different policy options. We focus on solutions to major problems in the developing and developed world, and the need to prioritize solutions based on evidence. The results are communicated in media throughout the world. For this the Center's leader Dr. Lomborg was named one of the world's 100 most influential people by Time Magazine, and repeatedly named Global Top 100 Thinker by Foreign Policy.

Please review our website www.copenhagenconsensus.com for more information.

These particular projects, Andhra Pradesh Priorities or Rajasthan Priorities, take the Center's cost benefit methodology for identifying and prioritizing high-yielding policy solutions to the state level for maximum impact. We are inviting applications for an economist to join the team, supporting and directly reporting to the Chief Economist.

We are looking for candidates who are intelligent, ambitious and have a passion for economics and smart policy solutions. In this role you will engage and work with the Copenhagen Consensus’s network of top economists including Nobel Laureates, tenured professors and policy specialists from think tanks. This is a fantastic opportunity to work across a variety of different development sectors (e.g. health, education, environment), engaging with some of the leading experts in their fields. Day-to-day tasks will include:

  • reviewing spreadsheets and reports for logic, accuracy and consistency
  • research assistance, data collection and cleaning
  • reading academic papers and drawing necessary policy conclusions / information from them
  • assisting or leading the development of economic models on cost-benefit analysis of policy analysis
  • communicating and providing feedback to economists within the Copenhagen Consensus network
  • working with Center staff to ensure that communications materials accurately reflect economic information

Flexibility to work on multiple work streams, a natural aptitude for organization, and deadline-driven deliverable creation are equally important in this fast-paced environment, as is the ability to handle the workload and stress implicit in projects with fixed deadlines. Please review our project in Bangladesh www.bangladesh-priorities.com and Haiti www.haitipriorise.com to get a basic understanding of a similar project.

Copenhagen Consensus Center is a virtual organization working with high skilled people around the world. We are a flat organization with high degree of individual responsibility. Candidates must be able to keep pace and perform in an environment without constant direct supervision.
