Sector Expert Rountables

From March to May 2016, the Copenhagen Consensus Center organized 17 sector expert roundtables. These roundtables were designed to discuss smart solutions covering 18 different topic areas which were determined after a thorough review of the Haitian government’s Action Plan and other notable reports by international stakeholders.

Together with the Strategic Development Plan for Haiti (Plan stratégique de développement d'Haïti) published in May 2012, international stakeholder reports and through careful consultation with leading development experts and economists in Haiti, some 1000+ ideas for solving some of Haiti’s most pressing challenges were identified.

A total of 17 roundtables offered an opportunity for sector experts to share their best ideas for Haiti. It brought together the best minds to answer the question:

What are the most effective solutions to the challenges facing Haiti?

The sector expert roundtable, a key part of the Haiti Priorise research program, were the first step to constructively explore ways for: (a) identifying development challenges and recommending smart solutions based on techniques of cost-benefit analysis; and, (b) providing evidence based information, on interventions that provide the most social, environmental and economic good per gourde spent.
