Top Ideas for ICT

Published by

In March 2016, Haiti Priorise held its first roundtable of sector experts to discuss different solutions for Haiti’s burgeoning ICT sector. As a means to guide the discussion, roundtable participants were asked what they thought were the current strengths and weaknesses of government programs in the ICT sector. Participants were also asked to suggest more effective ways to prioritize challenges in Haiti’s ICT sector.

The roundtable’s most notable research ideas focused on: developing policy to expand the sector and grow the market, creating a web-based platform to connect high schools throughout the country, expanding the e-governance platform, and creating a research and innovation hub in Haiti. The roundtable discussion indicated that proposed interventions in Haiti’s ICT sector cut across multiple sectors – governance, education, health, economic competitiveness etc. As a result, future interventions in the ICT sector should assume a comprehensive approach.
