Economist

Ahsanuzzaman is an Assistant Professor of Economics at the North South University, Dhaka, Bangladesh. Prior to joining North South University, he completed his Ph.D. in Economics from the Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics, Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, VA, USA. He also has an MA in Economics from Virginia Tech, an MSc in Economics and Finance from Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville, IL, USA and an MSS as well as a BSS in Economics from the Department of Economics, University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. His research interest is in Development Economics focusing on agriculture, health and environmental issues. He has been involved with research in collaboration with organizations both in Bangladesh as well as abroad such as IDRC, Canada and the Bureau of Economic Research, University of Dhaka, Institute of Microfinance (InM), Dhaka, Bangladesh, and the USAID. He conducts experiments, both in field as well as in the laboratory type setting, to investigate behavioral issues in Bangladesh related to technology adoption or other attitudes that might affect the economic well-being of the poor people.
