Top Ideas for Capital and Financial Markets

In July of 2015, Bangladesh Priorities held a roundtable of sector experts to discuss the best solutions for improving Bangladesh's capital and financial Markets. Combined with in-depth interviews and review of the 26 background studies of the 7th Five Year Plan (7FYP) and the Plan itself, the most notable ideas focused on: upgrading accounting and auditing standards - International Accounting Standards (IAS) and International Standards of Auditing (ISA), increasing coordination among the regulators i.e. IDRA, Bangladesh Bank, creating a Special Capital Market Tribunal engaging Ministry of Law and Security and Exchange Commission (SEC), and, increasing enlistment of companies in the capital market. Some other noteworthy ideas were: strengthening internal financial controls and promoting IPO pricing policy.
