Youth Forum: Jessore University
On January 19 2017, a Bangladesh Priorities Youth Forum was held at Jessore University of Science and Technology. Fifty one students from different departments of Jessore University of Science & Technology (JUST) participated in the forum. Dr. Md. Omor Faruque, Chairman, Department of Nutrition & Food Technology, Dr. Najmul Hasan, Associate Professor, Department of Genetic Engineering & Biotechnology and Md. Shimul Islam, Assistant Professor, Department of Nutrition & Food Technology attended the forum as special guests.
After a lively debate and fruitful discussion regarding the ranking of top priorities for Bangladesh, 16 students ranked “group and teach according to ability” as their top priority. One student commented that
not everyone has same competence for everything, so there is a need to educate with proper education according to capability.”
In addition, “boost agricultural productivity” was ranked as a top priority by another 16 students. One student commented that
Bangladesh is an agriculture-dependent country, so without development of the agricultural sector, the development of this country is quite impossible."
Together, the students ranked the following interventions as their top 5 priorities for Bangladesh.
