Youth Forum: Khulna University
On December 11 2016, a Bangladesh Priorities Youth Forum was held at Khulna University. Forty eight students from different departments of Khulna University attended the forum. Kazi Humayun Kabir, Head of Development Studies department, Hassan Hawlader, Assistant professor, Nuzhat Fatema, Assistant professor, Md. Ashikuzzaman, Lecturer, Jobair Hussain, Lecturer, Bayzid Khan, Lecturer, Development Studies attended as special guests.
After a lively debate and fruitful discussion regarding the ranking of top priority for Bangladesh, 17 students ranked “E-procurement across government” as their top priority considering the longstanding impacts on governance. One of the students commented
Full government process under electronic procurement will reduce the chance of corruption, reduce the percentage of time & expense, improve the demographic process, proper utilization of the government budget.”
In addition, “Boost agricultural productivity” was ranked as top priority by another 11 students. To quote one of them
To tackle the climate change effect on agricultural productivity and to increase 10% productivity, we need to invest more on agriculture & conduct training session with farmers.”
Together, the students ranked the following interventions as their top 5 priorities for Bangladesh.
