Youth Forum: Rajshahi University
On December 1 2016, a Bangladesh Priorities Youth Forum was held at Rajshahi University, in Rajshahi. Fifty two students from different departments of Rajshahi University attended the forum. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Ali, Head of Economics Department and Dr. Rezaul Karim Bakshi, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Economics attended as special guests.
After a lively debate and fruitful discussion regarding the ranking of top priority for Bangladesh, 20 students ranked “E-procurement across government” as their top priority considering several direct and indirect benefits. One of the students commented that
After fully implementing the Electronic Procurement across government it will be possible to reduce corruption in tender & allotted money, and also reduce complexity in bureaucracy and increase government tax.”
In addition, “Boost agricultural productivity” was ranked as a top priority by another 8 students. To quote one of them
Bangladesh need to produce different crops according to seasons so that we can prohibit soil erosion and increase productivity.”
Together, the students ranked the following interventions as their top 5 priorities for Bangladesh.
